Milford Girls Lacrosse 1/2 Red
by posted 02/21/2021

My name is Trisha Kearnan. I will be coaching your daughter, along with Nicole Hausmann, for this upcoming lacrosse season. We are thrilled that you and your daughter have chosen to sign up for (and return to) the game of lacrosse. Nicole and I both have daughters on the team (Clare Kearnan and Cecily Hausmann). They have been cheering on their brothers at their lacrosse games for the last three years. They can't wait to get out onto the field with this great group of girls for our Milford Girls 1/2 season.
We are excited to see our returning players and welcome in our new teammates. The girls will essentially all be on very similar levels of skill and understanding of play, as we only had a few weeks of practice last winter/spring. This season, Nicole and I will be placing our emphasis on the fundamentals of lacrosse and making sure the girls are having fun. We will be taking all the Covid guidelines seriously to ensure the safest environment possible for all involved this season.
We will begin our indoor practice at The Park (formerly known as the John Smith Soccer Bubble) on Friday, March 5th at 6pm. We will have practice at the same time every Friday in March. It is our understanding that The Park is not allowing spectators inside during practice. We will communicate our plans for meeting in the lobby and picking up your daughter in more detail closer to our first practice.
Plans for spring outdoor practice and games are still being determined by the league. As soon as we know anything, we will communicate that to you all.
The girls will need a lacrosse stick, lacrosse goggles, a mouthguard, a mask, and a clearly labeled water bottle for practice and games. There are several packages online at various sporting goods stores or on Amazon. One thing to note, lacrosse sticks can often be a little too long for girls at this age. Many players would benefit from having their stick cut down. If your daughter's stick needs to be cut, you can handle this one of two ways. Lacrosse Unlimited in downtown Wellesley can cut your stick for you for free (or likely any other lax store...this just happens to be the closest). Or, if you have access to a hacksaw, Nicole and I can show you what length it should be cut down to for your daughter. If neither of these options work for you, just let us know and we can see how we can help.
Again, we are so excited to get out and enjoy this wonderful game with your daughters this spring. We look forward to all the skills to be learned, fun and laughter to be had, as well as friendships to be made. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. Also, if there is an additional parent that you would like added to our communications, please let us know. We'll be in touch soon!
Take Care,
Trisha & Nicole
