Boys Equipment

Boys Equipment

Boys will need the following equipment in order to participate:

  • Stick
  • Lacrosse helmet (No Hockey Helmets)
  • Mouthguard (Preferably attached to helmet)
  • Shoulder Pads with chest pads (NOCSAE ND200 certified)*
  • Gloves
  • Elbow/Arm Pads
  • Compression shorts with cup
  • Cleats (soccer cleats are fine)

*A new safety rule begins January 1, 2022 with a requirement that all SHOULDER PADS meet a new NOCSAE ND200 requirement. Product compliance with ND200 reduces impact forces and thus the risk of commotio cordi (cardiac arrest due to a blow to the heart area)

How much does it cost to outfit a boy for lacrosse?
It depends. You should expect to spend between $200-300 for new equipment for a boy's first season of lacrosse, but there are second-hand options to reduce the cost, as well. Keep in mind, lacrosse equipment is not just an investment for the current season but an investment in his lacrosse future. Depending on growth spurts, you can expect your new equipment to last 3-4 seasons.

Can I purchase second-hand equipment?
There is equipment that you should purchase new and there is equipment that you can buy second-hand, if you desire. Helmets and shoulder pads are the most important pieces of gear. Helmets need to be properly fitted for comfort and safety. Unless you know the history of a helmet, we would recommend the purchase of a new helmet. Shoulder pads have a new requirement (since 2021) that require a special chest pad to reduce the impact of blows to the chest area on the heart. All new shoulder pads in stores meet this NOCSAE ND200 standard. If you are using second hand shoulder pads, you must make sure they meet this same certification.
